How to Wash and Care for Fleece Blankets
Keep your blankets soft, vibrant, and long-lasting with these simple care tips.
Why Proper Care Matters
Fleece blankets are known for their softness and durability, but improper washing can lead to pilling, matting, and fading. Whether it’s a custom embroidered throw or a vibrant sublimated blanket, following the right care routine ensures your blanket stays beautiful for years.
Machine Washing Guide
Use cold water and a gentle cycle. Select a mild detergent without bleach or fabric softener, as softener coats the fibers and reduces the plush feel. Always wash fleece with similar soft items — avoid mixing with jeans or items with zippers that could snag the fabric.
Drying Your Blanket
Air drying is best to preserve softness and prevent static buildup. If using a dryer, set it to low heat or no heat. High temperatures can damage the polyester fibers and cause the blanket to lose its shape. Remove the blanket while still slightly damp to reduce wrinkles.
Care Tips at a Glance
Avoid Fabric Softener
Softener coats polyester fibers and reduces the plush texture over time.
Wash Inside Out
Turn your blanket inside out to protect printed or embroidered designs from friction.
No Ironing
High heat melts polyester fibers. If needed, use a steamer on low setting only.
Frequently Asked Questions

Dry cleaning is not recommended. The chemicals can be harsh on polyester. Machine or hand washing is always preferred.
